A History in Pictures:Writing for the Theatre
In 1972, at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, I wandered into the theatre and fell in love with the art form. Making art in teams, creating whole new worlds with shared imaginations, learning construction, lighting, sound, costuming, management, performance - I knew I’d found the work I’d been searching for. But I soon discovered that of all the plays available to us, none were about anyone like me. So I did the only thing I could think to do - I started writing my own plays.

San Francisco State Production of "Camino Confusion" (early 90's) -- Dead Man, with the Maritans X9 and Q10 sails through the Land of the Dead looking for his revenge.

Cucucuevez Production of "Hot Tamale/Tamale Caliente" (late 80's) --- Gina's search for the hottest tamale in the world includes a trip into El Bosque de los Lobos Hambrientos (The Forest of Hungry Wolves)!

SFSU Production of "Suburban Canciones" (late 90's) -- five short plays that follow the history of the Garcia family through 5 decades of life in the U.S. in the last half of the 20th Century.

Teatro Esperanza production of "The Journeys of the Angels" (2008) -- At the urging of her two deceased Tias a young woman leaves LA to search for her long lost father.

Teatro Esperanza production of "Drive My Coche" (2005) -- a solo show with songs telling the story of my girl, my car, and our lives on the homefront of the Vietnam War.
